Can I get my Utah medical cannabis card through telehealth?
Yes — initial evaluations may be completed in person or via telehealth for established patients. Follow-up renewals can often be done virtually, depending on your prior visits and state regulations.
How long does it take to get a Utah medical cannabis card?
Most patients can complete the application and approval process within 1–2 weeks after their QMP visit, once they’ve submitted their EVS application and paid the state fee of $8.
What if I don’t qualify for a card?

Can medical cannabis interact with my medications?

Do I have to renew my cannabis card?
Yes — Utah requires periodic renewals based on your provider’s recommendation length (typically 6 months to 1 year). Renewals can be done virtually after your first in-person visit.
What’s the difference between THC and CBD?
THC provides psychoactive effects and can relieve pain, nausea, and insomnia; CBD is non-psychoactive and supports relaxation, inflammation, and anxiety. Many patients use balanced THC:CBD ratios for optimal benefit.
What are common side effects of medical cannabis?
Common effects include dry mouth, mild dizziness, increased appetite, or drowsiness. Chandler will help you start low and adjust carefully to minimize side effects.
How much does it cost to apply?
The state fee is $8 (as of July 2025), plus the provider evaluation fee.
What is a Qualified Medical Provider (QMP)?
A QMP is a licensed healthcare professional authorized by the Utah Department of Health to recommend medical cannabis.
Can I apply online?
Yes. You’ll create a Utah ID and EVS account before your visit, and your provider will complete the certification in the system.
Do I have to meet my provider in person?
Yes — your first appointment must be in person. After that, renewals can usually be done via telehealth.
How long does my card last?
Cards are typically valid for 6–12 months depending on your provider’s recommendation.
